ADNOC CEO will address CERAWeek virtually, and travel to Washington in the next few days

ADNOC, the state oil company of Abu 'Dhabi, has announced that its Group CEO Sultan Al Jaber, will not be travelling to Houston for the CERAWeek energy conference. Instead, he will?participate virtually, before traveling to Washington D.C. to attend meetings.

The meeting, which brings together some of the top executives in the oil and gas industries, begins on Monday. This is at a moment when oil prices are soaring globally due to Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on infrastructure. Governments are scrambling to combat inflation and avoid recessions.

This year, CERAWeek, an event?organized by S&P Global?will be devoid of the?physical?presence?of top Gulf execs?. Amin Nasser, CEO of Saudi Aramco, has cancelled his appearance due to the war. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation CEO will speak from Kuwait on the following day.

Al Jaber’s participation "reflects the importance that he places on direct engagement with the global community of energy at a crucial moment for energy safety", said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson confirmed that he would also travel to Washington for a 48-hour trip in order to attend a number of bilateral meetings at senior levels and to take part in an event organized by the Middle East Institute.

Al Jaber will?address CERAWeek this Monday, and his visit to Washington is expected to take place?in the middle?of this week.

The spokesperson stated that his meetings in the UAE "will focus on the Hormuz Situation, global energy supplies continuity, and the UAE/U.S. Strategic partnership".
