Trafigura-Entara consortium to purchase French refinery

Rhone Energies, a consortium of commodity trader Trafigura and Entara LLC, has concurred with ExxonMobil's ESSO SAF to buy the FossurMer refinery and Toulouse and VillettedeVienne terminals in France.

Discussions with the pertinent authorities are continuous and the needed authorisations are expected by the end of October, Trafigura stated in a news release on Thursday.

The parties signed the sale agreement having actually completed an info and assessment treatment with staff member agents, Trafigura stated.

Trafigura said it would have a minimum 10-year special petroleum supply and item offtake contract for the 140,000 barrel daily (bpd) capability Fos-sur-Mer refinery when it revealed it remained in talks to acquire the site in April.

Trafigura's partner in the deal, Entara LLC, is an energy facilities company that concentrates on lowering carbon intensity of fine-tuning assets.

The deal to acquire the refinery is Trafigura's 2nd major acquisition this year. It also completed the acquisition of UK roadway fuels and biofuel provider Greenergy on Thursday.

The acquisition of the Fos-sur-Mer refinery follows a trend of trading firms picking up physical properties.

Trafigura also signed a long-lasting industrial arrangement to supply crude and market items from the ISAB refinery on Sicily in 2015, when Russia's Lukoil sold it to private equity company G.O.I. Energy.

On the other hand, rival trader Vitol accepted purchase a managing share of Saras, which runs the 300,000 bpd Sarroch refinery on Sardinia, previously this year.
