Saudi petroleum supply to China to fall 5.8 mln bbls in June from May, sources say

Chinese refiners will lift less Saudi petroleum in June than in May, people with understanding of the matter stated on Friday.

The supply cuts followed the world's leading exporter Saudi Aramco treked official market price (OSPs) for most of its crude to Asia to the greatest in 5 months regardless of weak refining margins.

The volume of Saudi crude to be loaded for China is estimated to fall by 5.8 million barrels in June from 45 million barrels in May, the sources stated.

These include supply cuts of 6.8 million barrels to state and private refiners as well as a 1 million barrel boost for among the private refiners, the sources stated.

The cuts were mainly for Arab Medium and Arab Heavy crude, they said.

Some of the cuts for Arab Heavy were also made by Aramco, the sources stated, adding that Saudi Arabia will likely need more crude to sustain power plants during summertime.

Since of the, chinese refiners are raising less Saudi crude high OSPs along with weak margins, 2 of the sources stated.

3 other Northeast Asian refiners will get full legal materials in June.

Aramco did not instantly react to requests for comment outside of its office hours.
