Zelenskiy claims he can save the relationship between Ukraine and US

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, a Ukrainian politician, said that he was confident he could save his relationship with Donald Trump following their explosive encounter in the Oval Office. However, he added that they needed to continue discussions behind closed doors.

Extraordinary Meeting

In a live broadcast on Friday, Trump accused Zelenskiy, in a way that was not televised, of being unthankful for U.S. assistance, showing disrespect to his own country, and of putting the world at risk by waging war three. This cast doubts over Washington's continued support for Ukraine.

Zelenskiy told reporters that the U.S. wouldn't stop providing assistance to Ukraine because they, as "leaders in the civilized world", would not want help Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelenskiy, however, said that he was prepared to face any challenge.

After the London meeting, he said via a translation that he believed the relationship would continue.

He added, "I don't think it is right to have such discussions in a totally open manner." ... "I don't believe that the format of what took place brought us anything positive or extra as partners."

Zelenskiy said that he was still ready to sign any proposed agreement.
