No danger to oil supply security in Hungary, Slovakia, EU Commission says
There appears to be no immediate threat to the security of oil supply to Hungary and Slovakia as sanctions enforced by Ukraine on Russian oil manufacturer Lukoil do not affect the transit of oil via Ukraine to Hungary, the European Commission said on Thursday. In a letter dealt with to foreign ministers of Hungary and Slovakia, European Commission Vice President for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis stated that according to details received from Hungary's MOL, the importer of the Russian oil, the oil ends up being property of the trading business at the Russian-Ukrainian border, and is therefore not subject to sanctions.

Slovakia thinks about building another 1.2 GW nuclear power unit, PM Fico says
The Slovak federal government is thinking about developing another nuclear power unit with capacity of approximately 1.2 gigawatts (GW), and could reach a decision at a conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Robert Fico stated on Monday. The choice would be a basis for concrete actions to prepare the project, he said. Slovakia has long been a supporter of nuclear and hydro energy. Utility Slovenske Elektrarne, which is 33% state-owned, in 2015 completed the 472-megawatt Unit 3 at the Mochovce plant and is now finishing another at the exact same website, a job that has its roots in the communist age.
