South Korea's Hyundai Oilbank cuts crude runs after problem at gas system, sources say

South Korean refiner Hyundai Oilbank has actually lowered production at the larger of its two crude distillation units (CDUs) in Seosan since of production concerns at a gasolinemaking system, 2 industry sources with knowledge of the matter said on Thursday.

It has minimized the crude processing volume at one of the CDUs to about 250,000 barrels daily (bpd) for about a week from about 300,000 bpd before the event, among the 2 sources said.

Hyundai Oilbank declined to comment on the event.

This is the 2nd time the company cut refining runs in the previous month. A fire had taken place at its desulphurisation unit previously.

The oil significant likely had a technical concern on Wednesday at its 90,000 bpd residue fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) which produces fuel and was forced to shut it down for 10-14 days, a third source with understanding of the matter stated.

The Seosan refinery has an overall crude processing capability of 520,000 bpd.
