PetroChina profit enhanced by stronger gas sales and fuel demand

China's leading energy manufacturer PetroChina published a 4.7% increase in firstquarter earnings on Monday assisted by development in natural gas and a recovery in fuel need.

Net earnings attributable to shareholders increased to 45.68 billion yuan ($ 6.30 billion) from 43.6 billion a year previously, a. filing with the Hong Kong Stock market revealed.

Earnings rose 10.9% at 812 billion yuan.
