BP asks US regulators to turn down Venture Global's permit extension request

BP Plc on Tuesday urged U.S. regulators to decline Endeavor Global LNG's ask for an extension of time to develop its Calcasieu Pass export plant.

BP states the plant is effectively commissioned and desires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to give it gain access to to Venture Global's confidential commissioning documents.

As of Oct. 26, 2023, all Endeavor Global Calcasieu Pass ( VGCP) liquefaction obstructs finished commissioning and are totally functional, appropriately ... no extension is essential, BP stated in its letter to the FERC.

BP's pleading to FERC follows comparable demands on Monday from Repsol SA and Galp Energia to require U.S. LNG exporter Endeavor Global to divulge commissioning reports sent to the regulator for its Calcasieu Pass LNG task.

The Arlington, Virginia-based exporter was not immediately readily available for remark. On Monday it stated it opposes the requests of Repsol and Galp for personal files and ... will not provide any such documents unless and until explicitly purchased to do so by the Commission.

BP, Galp, Repsol, Shell PLC, Edison Health Spa and Poland's Orlen SA have actually all raised alarm that nearly 2 years after Endeavor Global began offering LNG as pre-commissioning cargoes they are yet to get their contracted freights of the superchilled gas.

The matter has actually also gone to arbitration with Venture Global firmly insisting that it can not move from commissioning to business operations unless it resolves a continuous power generation problem.
