The Russian army claims that Kyiv attacked three civilian energy infrastructures during the Russia-US discussions

The Russian Defence Ministry announced on Tuesday that Ukraine launched three attacks against Russian civilian energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia on Monday, as Russian and U.S. representatives held discussions about a potential ceasefire agreement.

In a statement, the ministry stated that Ukraine had launched on Monday attacks against infrastructure owned by Rosseti, the Svatovo Gas Distribution Station in Russia-controlled Eastern Ukraine, as well as an underground storage facility for gas in Crimea.

After a telephone call between U.S. president Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday of last week, Russia has announced that it will cease its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Ukraine hasn't declared a moratorium on similar activities, but it has stated that it is willing to do so in the event of a formal agreement defining the exact terms for a deal.

In a statement, the Defence Ministry stated that "by continuing to attack Russia's energy infrastructure daily, (Ukrainian president) Zelenskiy confirms his unwillingness for a deal. It is impossible to trust any guarantees he may give regarding the observance of any possible agreements." (Reporting and Editing by Andrew Osborn).
