Brunei LNG provides very first freight because plant outage

Brunei LNG has actually delivered its very first freight of liquefied gas (LNG) since it revealed a failure of its onshore compressor plants in May, according to shiptracking data and a declaration from the cargo recipient.

PetroVietnam Gas said on Wednesday evening it had gotten an LNG cargo on the Amani vessel from PetroChina International, which had packed in Brunei.

Shiptracking information from analytics firms Kpler and LSEG show that the Amani vessel departed Lumut port in Brunei on June 2 and arrived at Vietnam's Thi Vai terminal on June 12.

The Kpler and LSEG data also reveal that the Amali vessel departed Brunei on June 6, and is bound to come to Tianjin, China on June 15 or 16.

Brunei LNG did not instantly react to an ask for remark. It said last month it is working on rebooting its onshore compressor plants following a failure on May 20, but did not offer a reason for the interruption or when the plants would resume operations.

Brunei LNG's plant has a capability of 7.2 million metric tons each year.

Brunei LNG is 50% owned by the federal government of Brunei, and the rest is split equally between Japan's Mitsubishi Corp. and Shell.
