Yemen's Houthis fired missile in Gulf of Aden, no damage reported, US says

The U.S. Central Command ( CENTCOM) said the Iranianbacked Houthi militants fired one antiship ballistic missile from Yemen into the Gulf of Aden, however it caused no damage to any vessels.

The rocket did not impact any vessels and there were no injuries or damage reported, CENTCOM added in a statement early on Thursday.

United States Central Command then effectively engaged and damaged 4 unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) and one surface-to-air rocket in Houthi-controlled locations of Yemen, it stated, including it was figured out these weapons presented an imminent danger to merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the area.

Houthi militants have consistently introduced drones and rockets against worldwide industrial shipping in the Gulf of Aden because mid-November, saying they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians versus Israel's military actions in Gaza.

Their Red Sea attacks have interfered with global shipping, requiring companies to re-route to longer and more expensive journeys around southern Africa, and stoked fears that the Israel-Hamas war might spread to destabilise the broader Middle East.

The United States and Britain have actually performed several strikes versus Houthi targets in response.
