Kashkari, Fed's Kashkari, says that the oil price is the main risk for Venezuela to US economic growth, but they haven't seen it yet.

Neel Kahkari, Minneapolis Federal Reserve president, said that the main threat to the U.S. economic system from the Trump administration's capture over the weekend of Venezuela's President would be a rise in oil prices. However, this does not seem to have happened yet.

Kashkari stated in an interview with CNBC that the risk comes "mostly from?oil price fluctuations". "When 'Russia' invaded Ukraine it sent a commodity shiver all over the world. Hamas's attack on Israel was not the same. The U.S., Venezuela and other countries are not involved in this conflict. "But that is the mechanism which... directly affects the US."

He added, "I haven't seen it yet."

U.S. Special Forces captured Venezuela's longtime leader, Nicolas Maduro and brought him to New York, where he will face drug trafficking allegations.

Commodity markets and financial assets have so far only responded modestly to this unexpected development. U.S. light, sweet crude oil prices were 1% higher on Monday but not much above the five-year lows reached in December. (Reporting by Dan Burns, Editing by ChizuNomiyama)
