Official from the Russian Embassy says that Russia has "special mechanisms" to supply oil to India

A Russian official said that Russia would continue to supply oil to India, and its President Vladimir Putin would meet India's PM Narendra Modi by the end the year in New Delhi.

Roman Babushkin told reporters in a press conference that Russia has a very, very special mechanism to continue oil supply to India. He added that India's crude imports from Russia would remain the same.

He said that no dates have been set for the Putin and Modi meeting.

On August 28, the Indian government imposed an additional 25% on exports, citing its imports of Russian crude oil that increased after Western nations sanctioned Russian supply following its invasion of Ukraine.

The U.S., however, has not imposed similar tariffs against China for its purchases of Russian crude oil.

The European Union sanctioned the Russian-backed Indian refinery Nayara Energy last month, causing the refiners to reduce their processing and for companies to limit their trade with them.

Evgeniy Grivá, the Deputy Trade Representative for Russia in India, said that trade between India and Russia is expected to grow by 10% per year.
