Saudi Arabia orders four Iranian embassy staff and the military attache to leave

Saudi Arabia informed Iran's military attache and his aide, as well as three members of the embassy, that they must leave the kingdom within 24 hours of being declared persona grata. The Saudi Foreign Ministry cited what it called continued Iranian attacks against Saudi territory.

Saudi Arabia has been attacked by hundreds of Iranian missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted.

In a press release, the?ministry stated that continued Iranian attacks will?lead?to further escalation and "significant consequences" on current and future relationships.

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister stated on Wednesday that the kingdom reserves the right to use military force against Iran. He also said any trust between the two countries has been destroyed following recent attacks.

Saudi Arabia and Iran reestablished diplomatic relations in 2023, as part of an effort to calm tensions following years of hostility that saw the two countries back opposing political and military factions in the area.

The U.S. and Israeli war against Iran, and the?attacks by Iran on Gulf neighbours that followed have?disrupted' oil and?gas?exports from the Middle East. Production has been stopped.
