Legal representative for Telegram manager Durov dismisses allegations as unreasonable, French media reports

The French lawyer for Telegram employer Pavel Durov said it was absolutely unreasonable to recommend that the head of a social media such as his customer could be included in criminal acts, Franceinfo and BFM television reported on Thursday.

Telegram completely abides with European rules on digital. It is a mediator whose rules resemble those of other social networks, David-Olivier Kaminski told a number of press reporters.

A French judge put Durov under formal examination on Wednesday in a probe into the mob on the messaging app, however approved the business owner bail on condition he pays 5 million euros ($ 5.6 million), reports two times a week to police and does not leave French territory.

Paris district attorney Laure Beccuau said in a declaration the judge discovered there were grounds to officially examine Durov on all the charges for which he was jailed four days earlier.

They consist of presumed complicity in running an online platform that permits illicit deals, pictures of kid sex abuse, drug trafficking and fraud, along with the rejection to interact information to authorities, cash laundering and providing cryptographic services to wrongdoers.

Durov's lawyer did not right away react to a Reuters ask for remark.
