India's Kansai Nerolac reports higher revenue for 5th straight quarter

India's Kansai Nerolac Paints reported a higher earnings for the fifth straight quarter on Saturday, helped by sustained demand from decorative and industrial finishes.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Growing activity in India's real estate sector has stired need for ornamental home paints and benefited business including Kansai Nerolac.

Costs of crude - which accounts for approximately one-third of paintmakers' expenses - have alleviated from their 2022-highs, however were still higher year-on-year throughout the January-March period.

The entry of Grasim Industries into the sector will magnify competition in an already crowded market, dominated by market leader Asian Paints, analysts have said.

BY THE NUMBERS

Japan's Kansai Paint Co-owned firm's combined net earnings rose about 24% year-on-year to 1.16 billion rupees ($ 13.9 million) in the quarter ended March.

Earnings at India's third-largest paintmaker by market capitalisation increased over 2% to 17.69 billion rupees, while a. increase in input costs helped total expenditures tick 1.7% greater.

SECRET ESTIMATES

The demand for commercial finishes though great, moderated. from previous quarter. Decorative as soon as again taped double. digit volume growth, said Handling Director Anuj Jain.

Going forward, the projection of a great monsoon should augur. well for paint market, he included.
