Oil production in Brazil anticipated to increase in May for the very first time in 6 months

Partial information on Brazil's oil and gas production in May indicate an increase in volumes compared to April, going back a series of 5 consecutive monthly declines, oil and gas regulator ANP informed .

The month-to-month decrease seen throughout the year, according to the company, happened due to the closure of production units, scheduled and unscheduled stoppages and operational issues.

Oil business have also alleged the pattern was due to the impacts of a strike at ecological agency Ibama, however ANP stated it does not have information to offer on the topic at the moment.

ANP did not describe why production will increase in May. Complete information for May must be published by ANP in early July.

In April, Brazil's oil production totaled 3.19 million barrels of oil per day usually, the lowest volume in 12 months and a drop of 4.8% compared to March, according to information from ANP. In relation to April last year, the ANP taped at the time an increase of 1.69% in Brazilian oil production.
