New York governor reveals $200 million energy costs relief program

New York City Governor Kathy Hochul said on Thursday that the New York State Public Service Commission has adopted a $200 million energy bill credit program to be handled by large electric and gas energies on behalf of their customers.

Under the strategy proposed by the Energy Cost Policy working group, the $200 million appropriation included in this year's state budget will be assigned to client accounts through a one-time credit within 45 days of energies receiving spending plan funds.

It aims to aid more than 8 million directly metered electric and gas consumers in New york city.

The program also uses funding and technical assistance for services, tenants and house owners to handle their energy requires.

Energy cost continues to be a leading concern ... and this energy expense credit is simply one of many actions New york city is taking to lower expenses, Hochul stated in a news release.

In 2015, New York was awarded almost $24 million in federal financing to enhance the state's electrical infrastructure to decrease the results of severe weather condition and natural catastrophes.
