Russia accuses Zelenskiy of 'nuclear blackmail,' over Chornobyl Plant stage-managed.

Russia said that Kyiv's "provocation" to blackmail the West was an attempt by Kyiv, based on the claim made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that the Russian drone struck the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

Zelenskiy stated on Friday that the Russian drone caused significant damage to a radiation containment shelter in the plant. However, radiation levels were normal following the incident. This occurred as senior U.S. and European officials met at the Munich Security Conference for a discussion of the war in Ukraine.

Maria Zakharova a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Zelenskiy that he orchestrated the alleged drone strike to coincide with the Munich events as part of an effort to lobby the West to secure more money and weapons.

Zelenskiy was not going to arrive at the Munich Conference empty-handed. To distract conference participants, the hands of the Kyiv government must be occupied with children's rattles. Zelenskiy's performances are accompanied by provocations," Zakharova said at a Moscow news conference.

Is there a doubt in anyone's head that this is an act of provocation? No doubt. It was necessary to convince the public and lobby for weapons deliveries, that a performance would be needed. She called it "a scary, bloody, and very dangerous show," accusing Kyiv that they were using nuclear plants as a form of "blackmail." (Reporting and editing by Andrew Osborn.)
