Marathon Petroleum's Detroit refinery workers license strike, union says

Workers represented by Teamsters union at Marathon Petroleum's Detroit refinery have voted to license a strike, the union said on Thursday.

There are 273 Teamsters operating at the refinery in a range of functions, the union stated, including that their latest contract expired last month.

If Marathon won't offer the Teamsters whose labor makes them profitable a reasonable contract, workers are going to keep their labor, said Steve Hicks, President of Resident 283.

The refinery has a petroleum refining capability of 140,000 barrels each day and procedures sweet and heavy sour crude oils into products such as fuel and extracts.

The Teamsters Local 283 has not offered the business with a. notification of intent to strike, and our Teamsters-represented. employees are currently continuing to work as arranged, a. Marathon Petroleum spokesperson told in an e-mail.
