Indonesia to start building of 245-km Java gas pipeline in July

Indonesia prepares to start in July building of a 245km (152.24 miles) gas pipeline in Java to link excess supply in eastern part of the island to purchasers in the west, an energy ministry official said on Wednesday.

The building and construction is expected to be finished within 17 months, Laode Sulaeman, a director at Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry informed a market forum.

This would extend the very first stage of the job, a 60-km gas pipeline.

The pipeline is vital to transfer gas supply from producers in the eastern part of Java, Indonesia's many inhabited island, to commercial centers in the western part of the island.

Indonesia's upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas approximated that gas manufacturers in eastern Java will have excess output until a minimum of 2035 as demand in the location have been filled, deputy Kurnia Chairi said in a declaration on Wednesday.

This year alone, the gas surplus in eastern Java is anticipated at averagely 90 million basic cubic feet per day
