Gold reaches its highest level since mid-May, as purchasing momentum builds

Tuesday's gold price hit a?higher than three-month high, continuing a rally that was?driven by?the recent announcement of the U.S. Treasury buyback. Investors are now focusing on key inflation data, and an upcoming speech from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh.

Tony Sycamore, IG's market analyst, said that gold has continued to rise, and the return of?debasement trading last week has fuelled the latest leg of gains.

He said: "We expect gold dips to be supported by buyers who are looking to see gold move towards the next resistance level at $4,900/$5,000."
