UK's CMA orders Lindab to sell 2 websites to allay competitors issues

Sweden's Lindab must offer 2 of its websites in Britain considering that its acquisition of domestic peer HASVent might result in greater rates for ventilation systems, the UK competitors regulator stated on Tuesday after an indepth probe.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) found substantial decreasing of competitors in the supply of circular ducts and fittings in areas around Nottingham and Stoke-on-Trent in its thorough merger investigation.

Lindab is needed to market for sale all four websites it owns in the two locations and advanced prospective buyers for the CMA to approve, the regulator stated.

Lindab enhanced its sales and production of ventilation items in the UK by announcing the acquisition of Birmingham-based HAS-Vent in October in 2015.

In the U.K., Lindab operates through Lindab UK and Ductmann, which together have 24 branches. Both systems manufacture and disperse ventilation system items.

CMA stated last month that divestiture of the overlapping Lindab/HAS-Vent branches in each city would be the far more proportional solution.

Lindab did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for remark.
