China's exports to Russia increase 12.5% in Jan-Feb

China's dollardenominated exports to Russia rose 12.5% in the period of JanuaryFebruary from a year previously, while imports grew 6.7%, customs data revealed on Thursday, as Beijing looks for new drivers of cooperation with Moscow.

Two-way trade hit $37 billion in the first 2 months, according to data by China's General Administration of Customs.

The custom-mades administration launches combined January and February trade information to ravel distortions caused by the shift in the timing of the Lunar New Year, which fell in February this year.

In yuan terms, China's outbound shipments to Russia jumped 15.5% and imports were up 9.9% in January-February, customs data revealed.

Russia's financing ministry has been discussing with its Chinese equivalents the possibility of getting loans in yuan, however there has been no choice yet, Russian Financing Minister Anton Siluanov informed state media in remarks released on Feb. 26.

Siluanov added Moscow is ready to begin checking payments in digital currencies with China or nations of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Speaking at a press conference on the sidelines of China's. yearly parliament meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Foreign. Minister Wang Yi said the country wants to work with Russia. to cultivate new motorists of cooperation and combine relationship.
