Trump wants EU to purchase more United States oil and gas or face tariffs

U.S. Presidentelect Donald Trump said on Friday that the European Union might face tariffs if the bloc does not cut its growing deficit with the United States by making big oil and gas trades with the world's biggest economy.

I told the European Union that they should make up their remarkable deficit with the United States by the big scale purchase of our oil and gas, Trump stated in a post on Truth Social.

Otherwise, it is TARIFFS all the method!!!, he included.

Trump has actually promised to enforce tariffs on the majority of if not all imports, and stated Europe would pay a heavy rate for having run a big trade surplus with the U.S. for decades.

Trump, who takes workplace on Jan. 20, has already pledged hefty tariffs on 3 of the United States' biggest trading partners - Canada, Mexico and China.

The European refining industry comes from oil majors and trading homes and the federal governments have no say on where the purchases are coming from. The owners usually buy their resources based upon price and performances.

U.S. oil and gas exports already stream to Europe when market conditions make those purchases more attractive versus competing producers.

U.S. crude oil exports to northwest Europe are most likely to slip early next year after hitting a record high in November, as the arbitrage for transatlantic shipments has knocked shut and freight rates have actually climbed, experts stated today.
