Dependence Retail ties up with Israeli innerwear maker Delta Galil for India growth

Dependence Retail said on Tuesday it was partnering with Israeli innerwear maker Delta Galil, marking the latest push by billionaire Mukesh Ambani's retail company into India's fastgrowing apparel market.

The 50-50 joint endeavor will assist deepen Delta Galil's reach in India through retail, wholesale and digital channels, and likewise manufacture products for Reliance's own established brands, the business stated in an exchange filing.

Dependence Retail and Delta Galil, which also has licensing collaborations with brand names including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Adidas, did not reveal any monetary details.

Reliance recently said it plans to double the retail service, already India's largest, in the next 3 to 4 years.

The collaboration is the current in a string of deals by Dependence Retail, which has brought global brand names such as American jewellery maker Tiffany & & Co and British online merchant ASOS to India.

Last year it purchased the UK casual fashion garments seller Superdry's operations in three Asian countries. The Economic Times has reported Reliance Retail plans to launch its own sportswear brand name to compete with French merchant Decathlon and launch Chinese quick fashion label Shein in India.
