Greater output in China drove international aluminium up 4% in H1

Worldwide primary aluminium output increased by 3.9% yearonyear to 35.84 million metric heaps in the first half of 2024, driven generally by higher production in China, data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). showed on Monday.

Costs for aluminium, utilized in the construction,. transportation and packaging sectors, struck their highest in. almost two years in late May, prompting manufacturers to increase. output. Prices have fallen 17% ever since.

China, the world's greatest aluminium producer, stated last. week that its first-half aluminium output grew 7% to 21.55. million tons which production in June was one of the most in nearly. a years.

The IAI estimated China's production at 21.26 million heaps. in January-June, up 5.2%.

Aluminium output in Western and Central Europe, according to. the IAI, increased by 2.2% to 1.37 million lots, while. production in Russia and Eastern Europe included 2.4% to 2.04. million heaps. The Gulf region increased output by 0.7% to 3.10. million heaps.

In June, worldwide aluminium output rose 3.2% year on year to. 5.94 million loads, the IAI stated.
