The tinplate steel investigation will last approximately 14 months,. with the possible imposition of provisional duties in 7 to. 8 months.

The journal entry said among the problem's central. allegations is that Chinese manufacturers gain from distorted. prices for basic materials, notably hot-rolled flat iron or steel,. which accounts for 60-70% of the production costs and is subject. to Chinese export restrictions.

Eurofer stated the opening of the investigation was an. important action towards restoring an equal opportunity, including. that EU industry had lost a quarter of sales volume from 2021 to. 2023, while Chinese imports more than doubled.

China's Chamber of Commerce in the EU said it was concerned. that the examination's outcome might affect Chinese market. and future exports.

It said it was particularly stressed over the EU's. practice of constructing a typical worth utilizing what the EU says. are undistorted prices and standards. This normal worth is. compared with the export cost to identify the level of. discarding.

Most of the times, discarding just indicates selling an exported. item at rates listed below those in the exporter's domestic market.
