Ukraine raids Russian forces on occupied Kinburn Spit, Kyiv says

Ukrainian unique forces carried out an amphibious raid on the Russianoccupied Kinburn Spit in the Black Sea's northwest on Friday, damaging six Russian armoured automobiles and about 3 dozen personnel, the Ukrainian military intelligence company stated.

Russian forces caught the southern Ukrainian Mykolaiv region's Kinburn Spit, which juts out into the Black Sea, at the start of their full-blown intrusion in February 2022.

Moscow's military vantage point on the spit is seen as one of the reasons that Ukraine can not resume its ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson and export items from them via its Black Sea delivering corridor.

As a result of a raid on the Kinburn Spit inhabited by the Russians, 6 units of enemy armoured vehicles were ruined and about 3 dozen intruders were removed, the company said in a declaration.

Russia's defence ministry said the raid was pushed back, with some of the Ukrainian forces foundering on mines and the rest gunned down with guns, Russia's Interfax news agency reported. Moscow stated Kyiv lost 16 saboteurs in the operation.

Ukrainian forces conducted a raid of the

Russian-occupied Tendra Spit

, another Black Sea location to the south of the Kinburn Spit, in an operation revealed on Wednesday.

Although Ukrainian forces have been on the back foot for months in the war-torn east, Kyiv has been attempting to counter with long-range strikes as well as carrying out more strong attacks.

Its forces introduced a

surprise offensive

into the western Russian area of Kursk today, making inroads on a new front in the war.
