Russian court transfers zinc manufacturer Dalpolimetall into state ownership

After examining a claim filed by the Russian Prosecutor's Office, a Russian court announced on Tuesday that it had transferred the ownership of the major zinc and lead manufacturer Dalpolimetall to Russia.

Russia has accelerated the pace at which it seizes domestic assets after a court ruled in early this year to hand over a major grain trader and the sprawling Domodedovo Airport, as well as strategic warehouse assets.

The Russian Finance Ministry said on Tuesday that it plans to revive major privatisations by 2025, and expects to raise more than $1.2billion from the sale of assets seized in court.

Dalpolimetall employs over 1,500 workers and produces lead and zinc ore at two mines located in Russia's Far East. The company did not respond immediately to a comment request.

Since Russia's army entered Ukraine in February 20, 2022, foreign companies have been concerned about the possibility of being seized by the state. However, Moscow has also increasingly targeted domestic assets under the guise of domestic security and strategic stability. (Reporting and editing by Anastasia Lyrchikova, Alexander Marrow)
