World Fund, an investment company focused on climate change, raises 300 million euros

World Fund, a European venture capital company that invests in new firms developing technologies to combat climate change and protect our environment, announced it raised $300 million ($328 million) as its first fund.

World Fund, a Berlin-based company, said that among its subscribers were the European Investment Fund of the EU, BPI France and PWC Germany, as well as the UK Environment Agency Pension Fund.

Due to the persistent concern about global warming and environmental issues, many financial firms have invested in sectors that deal with climate change.

World Fund's first fundraising comes against a backdrop of reduced investments in global private equity as a sector due to economic uncertainty.

PWC reported in an October report that grants and investment in climate-tech startups fell by about 40% in the past 12 months. However, this decline was lower than the global venture capital industry.

"We will ensure that our fund shows the world that successful investment and positive climate impact are synonymous. We hope to serve the entire climate-investment sector in this way," said World Fund managing director Danijel visevic.
