UK to hold an inquiry into the Battle of Orgreave, a 40-year-old miners' strike
Britain announced on Monday that it will hold an investigation into the "Battle of Orgreave", which was a violent confrontation in 1984 between police and striking miners at the height of the year-long dispute with Margaret Thatcher’s government. At the Orgreave Coking Plant near Sheffield, northern England, more than 5,000 strikers clashed against a similar amount of riot officers who were drafted from all over the country.
