Fatal storms pound Iowa, minimizing parts of one town to debris

Serious thunderstorms, apparently generating twisters, raked Iowa on Tuesday afternoon, leaving parts of one town in disarray, falling a number of wind turbines and killing a minimum of a single person, according to authorities and regional media.

Video of the storm's after-effects aired by television station KCCI, a CBS affiliate in the state capital of Des Moines, revealed several homes lowered to stacks of debris in Greenfield, Iowa, a. town of about 2,000 approximately 60 miles (97 km) to the southwest.
