The PM reports that at least 14 people were wounded in the Russian attack on Ukraine’s Sumy region.

Ukraine's Prime Minister said that at least 14 people were injured in a Russian attack overnight on the northern Ukrainian region of Sumy. This included a family with 3 children.

The strike occurred at a moment when President Donald Trump was making intense efforts to end the Russian war in Ukraine.

Local prosecutors reported on Telegram that Russia had launched 15 drones early Wednesday morning in an attack on the Okhtyrka region.

Yulia Shvyrydenko, the Prime Minister, wrote on X that the children who were injured in the attack in a residential area of the town were aged 5, 4 and 6.

She said that "Russia continues its fear through acts of pure terror across Ukraine, targeting once again the homes of sleeping families and children,"

Russia has repeatedly stated that it does not target civilians or infrastructure.

The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia had launched a total 93 drones, two missiles, and 20 hits in the last 24 hours.

Ukraine's State Emergency Services (SES) reported that a "massive" drone strike was conducted in the southern region Odesa. They said one person had been injured and a fire broke out at a fuel-and-energy facility.

The port infrastructure of Odesa's Izmail district has been damaged, according to officials.

This week, Russia intensified its attacks against Ukraine's energy industry. In one attack, fires broke out at an Azerbaijani oil depot owned by the state-owned SOCAR company. Another caused damage to a gas transportation facility in Poltava's central region.

Since the beginning of its full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has repeatedly attacked fuel depots and oil storage facilities. Energy Ministry reported that Ukrainian energy facilities have been attacked 2,900 time since March 2025. (Reporting and editing by Andrew Heavens, Frances Kerry and Anastasiia malenko)
