China's exports of rare earths dip a little in April

China's exports of uncommon earths in April edged down 0.2% from a year earlier, custom-mades data revealed on Thursday.

Exports of the group of 17 minerals from the world's largest producer stood at 4,566 metric tons last month, data from the General Administration of Customs showed.

That compared to 4,709.6 lots shipped abroad in March and 4,574 heaps in April 2023.

China accounts for 70% of unusual earths mining worldwide and 90% of refined output, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Rare earths are used in products as differed as lasers, military devices, electric vehicles, wind turbines and consumer electronic devices.

In the first four months of 2024, China shipped out 18,049.5 heaps, a year-on-year increase of 10%.

China's unusual earths imports in April fell 32.5% on the year to 13,145.9 lots, with the overall in the four-month period dropping 18.1% on the year to 48,842.5 loads, the custom-mades information revealed.
