Munich Re sounds alarm on cyclones and temperature levels

German insurer Munich Re warned on Wednesday of an extreme hurricane season in the Atlantic and rising temperature levels internationally that revealed no. indications of stopping.

The world's biggest reinsurer made the grim outlook in a. routine half-year report on natural catastrophes.

Overall losses from natural disasters, including those not. covered by insurance coverage, were $120 billion in the first half of the. year, down from $140 billion a year previously however above 10-year. and 30-year patterns.

Munich Re said that high water temperature levels due to climate. modification are assisting to stimulate the formation of cyclones and. that the El Nino weather pattern this year would not assist. mitigate the storms.

Indicators continue to indicate an extreme hurricane season,. Munich Re stated in the report, which comes as the period kicks. into high equipment.

Tobias Grimm, researcher with Munich Re, told Reuters:. Environment change is taking place. This is a truth.

International temperatures were 1.5 degrees Celsius higher than. preindustrial levels, the reinsurer discovered. The upward. temperature level trend shows no indications of stopping, the report stated.
