Bangladesh clashes eliminate 12 as protesters promote PM to resign

At least a dozen individuals were killed and dozens more injured in clashes in Bangladesh on Sunday, as cops fired tear gas and lobbed stun grenades to disperse 10s of countless protesters calling for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign.

The unrest, which stimulated the federal government to close down internet services, is its greatest test considering that deadly demonstrations when Hasina won a 4th straight term in January elections boycotted by the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Celebration.

Critics of Hasina, along with human rights groups, have implicated her federal government of utilizing excessive force to stamp out the movement, a charge she and her ministers deny.
