Nigeria's sovereign fund to pilot development of 20 megawatts solar plant

Nigeria's sovereign fund plans to develop a 20 megawatts solar power plant in collaboration with a local company, first phase of a 300 megawatts job, the nation's Vice President Kashim Shettima said on Tuesday.

Shettima did not reveal the expense of the task or when building will begin.

Nigeria, with a population of more than 200 million people, has set up power generation capability of 12,500 megawatts (MW). Produces a fraction of that, leaving millions of homes. and businesses reliant on petrol and diesel generators.
