Area rates fall as German wind seen rising

European prompt power cost for Friday fell on Thursday, as wind supply was expected to increase in Germany and demand declined throughout the region.

German baseload power for Friday was down 7.3% at 88.10 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) at 0916 GMT, LSEG data revealed, while the equivalent French contract edged down 0.8% to 61.50 euros/MWh.

German wind power output was expected to rise by 1 gigawatt ( GW) to 6.1 GW on Friday, while French output was set to dip 260 megawatts (MW) to 1.3 GW, LSEG information showed.

German solar supply was expected to fall by 4.2 GW to 11.6 GW on Friday, the information showed.

Costs are anticipated to be coupled for Germany and the Netherlands for lots of hours over the next day, LSEG expert Naser Hashemi said.

French nuclear accessibility was the same at 73% of overall capability.

French nuclear operator EDF said in an online note that more than 20 reactors in the fleet of 56 might need maintenance extended by approximately 1 month in 2025.

European CO2 allowances for December 2024 fell 0.8% to 67.86 euros a metric lot.
