Thyssenkrupp appeals Dutch submarine contract award to France

Thyssenkrupp has appealed against a choice by the Netherlands last month to award an agreement worth billions of euros to construct submarines to France's Naval Group, the German company said on Friday.

Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), the German conglomerate's defence department, submitted the objection with the District Court in The Hague in late March, the business said in an e-mailed statement.

This step is an expert service procedure in such openly tendered significant jobs and part of the competitors - especially because of the concerns that remain unanswered concerning specific examination requirements, TKMS stated.

It said it would take time for the Dutch procurement authority and the Ministry of Defence to address these questions that TKMS said pertained to the overall assessment of the award decision.

It did not specify any of the criteria.

The arrangement to award the agreement to Naval Group still has to be approved by Dutch parliament, where numerous celebrations voiced discontent over the choice of the French group.
