American Electric Power reports Q1 revenue beat as business usage grows

American Electric Power beat firstquarter revenue estimates on Tuesday, as the electrical utility gained from greater need and usage from industrial customers.

The business stated it saw higher business sales with load growth of 10.5% from a year earlier, which assisted offset the expected decline in use for residential customers.

AEP's industry-leading transmission network continues to attract meaningful financial investment from information centers and other industrial and commercial customers, particularly in our Indiana, Ohio and Texas service areas, interim CEO Ben Fowke stated.

The company, however, continued to deal with undesirable weather condition in the quarter. Moderate weather moisten demand for electrical energy and gas, affecting American Electric Power, which delivers power to 5.6 million consumers in 11 states.

The Columbus, Ohio-based business reaffirmed its 2024 running revenues projection range of $5.53 to $5.73 per share.

American Electric Power reported an operating revenue of $ 1.27 per share, beating analysts' estimates of $1.25, according to LSEG data.

Furthermore, the company said it is taking several steps including voluntary workforce reduction program, to help alleviate the impacts of inflation and interest rates.
