Huge blackouts roil Cuba

Power blackouts totaling 14 hours or more each day were reported on Thursday across much of crisisracked Cuba, leaving countless locals helpless in the summer season heat and humidity.

The state-run power company said breakdowns had forced 6 plants off-line on the out-of-date and badly maintained grid.
