In Mexico governmental debate, Galvez pursues frontrunner Sheinbaum

Mexico's main opposition presidential candidate Xochitl Galvez called her rival, frontrunner Claudia Sheinbaum, the candidate of lies during a preelection argument on Sunday and dared her to drink a. bottle of water from the capital city she governed.

The attack by Galvez, who is representing a three-party. opposition coalition, comes as the most recent opinion surveys reveal she. is having a hard time to get momentum with five weeks to precede the. June 2 election.

An April 10-13 survey by Mitofsky for paper El Economista. provided Sheinbaum 51.4% assistance, with Galvez 26.7% of the vote. Political analysts stated the current dispute, which was light on. information, was not likely to make much of an impact on the. election's outlook.

I believe all eyes were on Xochitl on this celebration,. political expert Viri Rios informed Milenio TV after the dispute,. saying that Galvez had failed to highlight enough of her own. policies throughout the dispute.

She was confrontational, with the only aim of giving. nicknames to Claudia and not necessarily to speak about what she. wishes to do, Rios included.

In one sector, Galvez held up a bottle of water that she. said came from Mexico City and which she stated lab tests. showed to be infected. I welcome you to drink this water,. she stated, dealing with Sheinbaum, who was the mayor of the city. till last June.

Sheinbaum, for her part, assured to increase the mininum. wage and swore to enhance water recycling in Mexico which has. been facing dry spell and widespread water shortages. She also. said she would increase making use of solar panels on domestic. homes and electrical vehicles for public transportation.

She often made reference to what she called the. achievements of the existing government of President Andres. Manuel Lopez Obrador, whose consistent popularity has actually helped. provide Sheinbaum a strong lead in the surveys.

Mexico is excellent and will continue to be so with fraternity,. more justice, and more prosperity with sustainable development,. Sheinbaum stated.
